Bogotá D.C., October 2022 –The Legal 500 ranking and research company has analyzed the capabilities of law firms around the world and has highlighted the best, according to their expertise and the work they perform in each of their practice areas. On this occasion, the UK-based company published the results for the year 2023, in which Gómez-Pinzón once again appears as one of the leaders in the Colombian market, highlighting 37 of its lawyers and 19 law practices, positioning them in the highest places of the ranking.
Among the deals that allowed the firm to maintain its position as a benchmark in the legal market is the advice to the lenders in the financing granted to Ecopetrol for the acquisition of the 51,4% of the shares in Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. (ISA). Likewise, they advised Nexans Participations, a French company, in the acquisition of Cables de Energía y de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (Centelsa) through the purchase of their participation in several companies around Latin America.
Regarding intellectual property matters, the firm advised The Embassy of Peru in Colombia in the defense of an infringement of the PISCO designation of origin, owned by the Republic of Peru.
The law firm, in turn, has also been recognized for its advice to World Wildlife Fund, Inc., Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, and main donors in negotiating and formalizing agreements with the Government of Colombia to expand and protect the National System of Protected Areas. They also accompanied the Fondo de Capital Privado Nuevomundo in the selling of Calima shopping mall to Mall Plaza, a Chilean owner and operator of shopping malls, present in different countries in Latin America.

The rankings were revealed by Legal 500, an English publication that bases its research on the global legal sector through a methodology that integrates cases provided by law firms, references and direct comments from clients, and evaluation among competing firms.
