Bogotá, February 1st, 2021 – Lina Uribe García, a partner of Gómez-Pinzón Abogados for more than ten years, has recently taken on the direction of the Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions practice of the firm, becoming the first woman to lead this area in the Colombian legal sector.

Her professional experience of more than 20 years has been focused on mergers and acquisitions, private capital, joint ventures, and corporate matters in different industries. She has advised corporate, national, and international reorganizations, as well as mergers, spin-offs, and transformation operations, including the merger between Avianca and Taca; the acquisition of Carulla Vivero by Almacenes Éxito; the Cine Colombia spin-off; the Caracol Televisión spin-off; the acquisition of Chrysler Colombia by Grupo Bergé; the reorganization of the investment in Terranum Corporate Properties (TCP); the Bavaria reorganization; and the recent acquisition of Euroceramica S.A. en Reorganización by Porcelanite Lamosa, among many others.

She has also advised both local and international buyers and sellers, including private equity funds, during the acquisition and sale of companies, from the due diligence procedures, the structuring, documentation, and negotiation of the transaction documents, and the approval request to governmental entities, to the advice in the closing and post-closing matters of the transactions.

Lina is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and of the Executive Committee of Affinitas, an alliance based in Latin America and composed of Gómez-Pinzón (Colombia), Barros & Errázuriz (Chile), Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes (México) and Miranda & Amado (Perú), high-level law firms and leaders in the jurisdictions in which they operate.

With this designation, Lina takes on the direction of a 33-lawyer team, who make up a solid and leading practice in the legal market, as proven by their advice, during 2020, in several of the most important transactions of the country, including the acquisition by Carlyle Group of assets in Colombia from Oxy; the sale of fiduciary rights of the Calima Shopping Center to Mallplaza; and the advice to Ashmore Andean Fund LLC and Fondo Ashmore Andino II – FCP Fondo in the consolidation of Redcol Holding and granting of a convertible loan, among many others.
