Through Decree 1100 of August 10, 2020, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism developed the commitments acquired by Colombia under the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and Israel.
This Treaty and the subsequent Exchange of Notes between Israel and Colombia to correct technical errors were approved by Law 1841 of 2017 and approved by judgment C-254 of 2019, of the Constitutional Court of Colombia.
The Decree establishes different tariff elimination schedules for all products, which include the immediate elimination of certain products such as leather transmission belts, iron alloys, orchids, olives, among many others; up to progressive deductions (between 3 and 10 years), for products such as coffee, honey, blenders, glass items, among many others.
With regard to agricultural products, reduction periods are established with special terms that can be between approximately 3 and 12 years.
Finally, the Decree establishes provisions for:
- Import of commercial samples of negligible value and printed advertising material: these will be free of tariffs, but special conditions may be required for their importation.
- Likewise, it is established that the temporary export of goods to Israel for repair or alteration and the temporary importation of goods from Israel for the same activities will be exempt from tariffs.
