Health Authority  INVIMA,  stated that to date there is no pharmacological treatment to prevent or cure COVID-19, nor is there any scientific evidence regarding the adverse effects that may derive from the use of medications such as Ibuprofen or Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in the treatment of this disease.

INVIMA also indicated that so far there is no certainty about the efficacy and safety of use of antiretrovirals, interferons, antimalarials and immunomodulator, nor that the use of certain pharmaceutical products increases, decreases or cures the spread of the coronavirus.

For the treatment of patients with mild symptoms associated with the COVID- 19 recommends non-pharmacological treatment consisting on rest, hydration and social isolation; in the case of symptoms such as pain and fever, acetaminophen can be used first, and the use of Ibuprofen or other NSAIDs as alternative treatment is also feasible according to the available scientific information; in patients requiring hospitalization the health professionals will  administer certain treatments under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

In any case, INVIMA emphasizes the measures that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has recommended to reduce the spread of the infection.
